The 2nd Annual Scholarship Luncheon & Sneaker Ball is more than an event—it is a movement of purpose, remembrance, and impact. This signature gathering brings together community leaders, medical professionals, advocates, families, and supporters to raise awareness of Type 1 Diabetes while investing in the future through education.
This year’s luncheon and sneaker ball honors resilience, celebrates life, and amplifies the urgent need for education, research, and advocacy surrounding Type 1 Diabetes—a condition that impacts millions and requires lifelong management, vigilance, and support.
The Sneaker Ball Experience
Guests are invited to pair elegant attire with their favorite sneakers—symbolizing the walk of resilience, endurance, and unity. Every step taken at this event represents progress toward awareness, education, and a healthier future.
DeVon Antonio Staton Scholarship Information
The DeVon Antonio Staton Scholarship was established to honor and preserve his memory and legacy, to honor the efforts of Type 1 diabetes students everywhere, and to assist in achieving their academic and professional aspirations. The scholarship will be given yearly to 3 students who have been diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes attending college who also excels scholastically with a GPA of at least 3.0. Financial support will be allocated to the college that the student is currently attending or intends to attend. The DeVon Antonio Staton Scholarship will be presented at an annual semi-formal sneaker ball in March. The mother of DeVon, Cathy Staton and the board members of the DeVon Antonio Staton Foundation will evaluate all applications and select 3 recipients who best embody a desire to do well in school due to any challenges surrounding their condition. Your contributions will help sustain DeVon’s legacy and support a deserving, dedicated student in achieving their
educational aspirations. All of our donations and fundraising efforts are directed entirely
to our scholarship fund.
